default events page not displaying

on a fresh install when I go to my default events directory page I just get a string of text. I’ve stripped the site down and back and instead of showing the default view on the calendar I get the string listed below.

update before I submit: I did verify plugin activations and not effected. however, i can get the calendar system to work changing the theme to the twenty fourteen default theme.

i fully understand if the theme is the issue (WHICH REALLY IS FRUSTRATING) that it’s not really the event calendar system’s issue… but… can you offer any insight/guidance/suggestions on where to troubleshoot this.

Hi Michael.

Thanks for your troubleshooting efforts.

That is really odd if you’re only seeing that block of text.

One thing I’d recommend trying is changing wp-admin > Events > Settings > Display tab > Event template

Let me know if this helps at all. If not, please provide a link to your site’s calendar.

Michael, I’m sorry you struggled implementing our plugins with X Theme. We’ve had some users who say it definitely does work and some users who have said the opposite.

I believe it might be that some X Theme “skins” work and some don’t, but I’m not certain.
