Where can I configure the page <title> on the Events landing page? It’s currently empty.March 25, 2014 at 11:11 am #123085Barry
MemberHi: I’m sorry you’re experiencing difficulties here.
Ordinarily it would not be left empty: I do see that you tried deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default, unmodified theme – can you confirm if that resolved this and if you managed to isolate whatever might be conflicting here?
It’s not massively uncommon for themes to have their own logic with regards to title output, which might disrupt things, for example.
Let us know!

ParticipantDisabling all plugins and default theme is impractical as all of that is necessary for the site in its current form. Could you tell me how the title on the landing page is constructed?
I’m using Yoast WordPress SEO which is a pretty common plugin. Events, Venues, and Organizers show up in its options.

ParticipantThe setting in Yoast: “Force rewrite titles
WordPress SEO has auto-detected whether it needs to force rewrite the titles for your pages, if you think it’s wrong and you know what you’re doing, you can change the setting here.”With the setting disabled, titles on everything else are broken, and the default title for /events is SitenameEvents, without a space.

ParticipantI found a few resources that mention the issue already:
But I could use some clearer instructions on exactly how to fix this. Thanks!

MemberThe code Jonah suggested here could be added to your theme’s functions.php file, is that what you tried? It is a relatively old thread though so it’s possible some of the filters have since changed.

ParticipantI got it to work. It just irks me a bit that I paid $160 for a plugin, emailed tech support, was redirected to a forum, then suggested that I use someone else’s Gist from an old thread, instead of given clear instructions for a common issue that would uphold the integrity of the plugin.

MemberAs it’s been a while I’ll go ahead and close the thread: I’m sorry you didn’t receive the service you expected, however we do try to make it clear that we don’t ordinarily offer email based support. Additionally, integration issues with third party plugins are, sadly, not something we can generally assist with.
So while I appreciate this irked you somewhat, this was neither a problem with our plugin as such (any more than it was with WordPress SEO) and we couldn’t realistically have provided much more.
If we can assist with anything else though please don’t hesitate to open new threads and we’ll be happy to help 🙂
