    Dear Support-Team,

While using your plugin, I have noticed that the datepicker.js does not work correctly in the admin backend.

We use the plugin on a custom backend dashboard to display events from a certain category. Now, when trying to switch months, the calendar is not reloaded. In the front-end, this feature works without problems.

The console shows no errors in the backend.

I noticed that in the front-end, the following debug info is created when switching months: “TEC Debug: tribe_ev.fn.update_picker sent “02-2017″ to the boostrapDatepicker”. This is not shown in the backend, however, so I assume passing on the values does not work correctly in the admin backend.

I am looking forward to your reply and thank you in advance for your assistance!

    Best!

    Hello 🙂

Thank you for posting to our premium plugin support forums and sorry to see you’re having troubles.

We use the plugin on a custom backend dashboard to display events from a certain category. Now, when trying to switch months, the calendar is not reloaded. In the front-end, this feature works without problems.

This sounds like a conflict with a customization you’ve built. If this is the case, we are unfortunately unable to provide support in these instances. If I’m mistaken, please provide more clarification and screenshots if possible of a) the issue itself and b) any related errors, whether they be from your server error log or setting WP_DEBUG to true.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day. Cheers!

    Hello Hunter,

    Thank you for your reply.

We are actually using core functionality of the Eventscalendar PRO plugin – the [tribe_events] shortcode. We have placed this shortcode on a dashboard page in the backend, where we need to show a certain events category, so the shortcode is [tribe_events category=”catname”].

Now with this calendar view in the backend, the datepicker.js does not pass on the value correctly: Whatever month I select, the calendar does not load again (see screen1). When using the text links on the bottom of the calendar to switch months, the calendar is reloaded and shows the correct month.

This is the debug output from the console when clicking the links on the bottom of the calendar to switch months: [“TEC Debug: tribe_ev.fn.update_picker sent “2017-01″ to the boostrapDatepicker”]

This message does not show when using the javascript datepicker. Additionally, no errors are present in the server log, and no output is given when enabling wp_debug.

I am very puzzled. Is there maybe a dependency which is missing the admin backend (e.g. jquery or similar)? I hope you are able to help with this issue.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Best!

    Welcome back 🙂

Thank you for providing more information. We honestly weren’t expecting users to utilize the shortcodes on the backend and we’re interested in looking into this, but unfortunately can’t guarantee we’ll ultimately support this sort of usage.

What I’ll do is log a bug report for the developers to look further into the matter and once I have an update, I’d be happy to share it with you. I don’t have any sort of timeline when that will be, but stay tuned for more information.

Thank you for letting us know about the conflict and let me know if you’ve got any additional questions or concerns. Cheers!

    Hi Diego,

This thread was automatically closed, but I wanted to touch base with you on your initial issue/inquiry about using shortcodes on the back-end of your site.

Using the shortcode from within the admin environment certainly counts as atypical usage of this feature. Numerous things our views look for and depend upon – body classes, hooks for various assets etc – are likely to be absent in this environment. After further review we feel this is best treated as a custom development task that we regrettably cannot provide further assistance with at this time.

What I would do in this situation is visit our UserVoice Feature Ideas and submit your request. We regularly incorporate user ideas into releases, so yours could be next!

I hope this clears up any confusion on the matter and if you’re still experiencing any issues, please create a separate thread and we’d be happy to further assist. Enjoy what’s left of your weekend! Cheers 🙂
