ParticipantHi,
I’m having an issue with the date and time resetting to default (today 9am-5pm) whenever I try to add an event as an admin. Also, if I update the date/time on an existing event it will reset to the former date/time.December 16, 2014 at 9:29 am #919999Geoff
MemberHi there, Jonathan! Thanks for getting in touch and sorry you’re hitting some trouble here, but hopefully we can pinpoint the issue here together.
Generally, any of the date settings applied to the calendar come directly from the WordPress settings (Settings > General). That makes me wonder if there is some other conflict at play with either your theme or one of the other plugins that is installed.
Could you try temporarily activating the default Twenty Thirteen theme, to see if the issue happens there as well? If disabling the theme fixes it, that’s good news! It means we have narrowed the issue down to a theme conflict.
If the issue is still there when using the default Twenty Thirteen theme, then we can try testing for conflicts with other installed plugins. Using the Twenty Thirteen, please try deactivating all of your plugins, except for the ones from Modern Tribe. Does that solve the problem? If so, reactivate the plugins one at a time until the issue pops back up, then tell me which one was causing the issue.
These steps are also outlined here if you want some more details on how to test for conflicts.
Let’s give those steps a shot and then let me know what you find before we troubleshoot any deeper.
Cheers!

ParticipantWe’ve been using 3.8.1 without any problems so it’s an update issue. The time settings are correct and have not been changed since 3.8.1. I tried 2013 and the problem persists. By the way, the link in your canned response doesn’t work. Please could we get some support on this as our site depends on our events calendar working.

MemberHi there, Jonathan!
Sorry for the incorrect link, that was truly the result of a handmade typo. Here’re the correct link: tri.be/support/documentation/testing-for-conflicts/
Thanks for activating the Twenty Thirteen theme and confirming the issue still exists. Were you able to deactivate all other plugins and try there as well? The reason I ask is because conflicts with other plugins that were not present in a previous version may come up. It’s also possible that updates to other plugins could be triggering a conflict as well. It’s tough to know without getting to more of a clean slate, then trying to isolate the issue to a specific conflict.
I’m still unable to replicate the issue myself when using a default theme and no other plugins. Here’s how i’m creating an event:
- Go to Events > Add New
- Complete the Title, Content
- Leave the date and time to the defaults (screenshot)
- Publish the event and view it on my site–the date and time are correct on both the front and back end
- Go to Events > Events and locate the post that was just published
- Edit the time (screenshot)
- Save the post and view it on my site–the date and time are correct on both the front and back end
Is this different for you? If not, please share what steps you’re using to publish and edit an event so I can better mimic the environment.
Cheers!

ParticipantWe’ve had the opportunity to deactivate all plugins and have found that SEO by Squirrly seems to be the root of the issue.

MemberAh, nice work! Good to know that there is conflict there. I’ll make a note of that so it’s on our team’s radar, but unfortunately don’t have a solution that will correct that on our end. Perhaps the plugin author can shed some more light on how to disable the functionality on Events posts.
Thanks for following up and confirming the issue.
