I’ve spent the past 6 hours trying to input 5 events. If I put the event date in, the plugin keeps defaulting back to todays date. I try to change it and publish then event and it will not publish. If I change the YEAR to 2017 it will publish but not show in the list of events. If I then go in to edit the listing, most of the information I entered has been deleted and I have to input again. If I get all 5 events PUBLISHED, then go to the calendar and there are only two listed – the SAME listing on different dates. WTF?

    Hello,

I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time creating events!

I did some testing on my end but was not able to recreate this in my local environment. As a first troubleshooting step, can you try testing for conflicts with your theme and other plugins by following these instructions? Make sure to have WP_DEBUG enabled while testing to make sure that any errors will be displayed. If you do get any errors, please include them in your reply. Let me know what you find!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hello

Thanks for the response. It’s fewfinitely an issue with the year 2018. It wont go past the current date (whatever that happens to be) for some reason. The plug-in thinks i’m In a UK Timezone even tho everything says otherwise.

If i change to the WP theme as you suggest and ACTIVATE it, will i lose all the info on my current site? All the custom work? And what will my clients see if I do that?

    Thanks

    Hello,

You shouldn’t lose any content on your site when switching themes, but we always recommend making a full backup beforehand, just to be on the super-safe side, and also to use a testing environment instead of doing this on your live site. This way, your users won’t see any changes on the front end.

If you don’t have a testing site already, I would recommend the free WP Staging plugin, which will let you create a quick copy of your live site that you can use for testing. Another reason to use a staging site is that enabling WP_DEBUG will also cause errors that are being generated to display directly on the site, which is great for testing but is not something that you want to happen on the front end of your live site.

To make sure that you have the correct timezone set, you can go under Settings > General > Timezone from your WordPress Dashboard and make sure that your timezone is selected.

Please let me know what you find!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hello

Further on from the fault I had, I disabled all my plugins and then activated each, one by one, until I found the culprit –

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/greatest-contact-form/

If I activate that plugin, Event Calendar will not let me change the date from the current date (it also changed all the drafts i had in Event Calendar from last weeks dates, to today’s date) and also will not let me leave DRAFT so I can’t ‘Publish’ my event.

I wasn’t using the contact plugin, so I can leave it deactivated.  I thought you’d like to know.

    Hello,

Nice job finding the conflict, and thanks for letting us know about this! I’m not familiar with that particular plugin, so I am not sure why it isn’t getting along well with ours. However, I am glad that everything is working for you now.

If there is anything else that I can help with, please let me know!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
