I’m wanting to customize a category-based shortcode so that it only shows the first 10 events. Also wanting to remove the “previous post” link that automatically appears. This is my shortcode so far: [tribe_events view=”list” category=”living-light-kenosha” tribe-bar=”false”]

    Hey Rachel,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

The limit parameter is only available for pro Widget Shortcodes, like [tribe_events_list limit=”10″]. Unfortunately it’s not possible to achieve what you want out-of-the-box with the [tribe_events view=”list”] shortcode.

Workaround: If you want to change the number of events displayed in your [tribe_events view=”list”] shortcode, you can head over to Events > Settings > General and update the option, but please note that this action will also update the number of events displayed on your main calendar page (if you are using List, Photo or Map Views).

You can also limit the number of events that might display by date:

    [tribe_events view=”list” category=”featured-events” date=”2018-03-02″]

You will find more information about our shortcodes in the following article:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/

Does this help answer your question?

    Thanks,

    Patricia

Hi! What do you mean pro Widget Shortcodes? Is that another plugin?

Would you recommend this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar-shortcode/

    Hi Rachel!

The widget shortcode is a built-in feature on Events Calendar PRO, no need to install other plugin to have access to this functionality 🙂 You can check how it looks like by adding the following in one of your posts/pages:

    [tribe_events_list limit=”10″]

You will find more info regarding widget shortcodes in the following link:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-widget-shortcodes/

The plugin you mentioned (The Events Calendar Shortcode) wasn’t developed (it’s not supported) by us, so I’m not sure if it will help you to achieve what you want but feel free to give it a try!

If you have any other questions please feel free to let me know and I’d be happy to help as best I can!

    Cheers,

    Patricia

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
