Customizing description in list widget

The Advanced List Widget is very nice! Thanks!

There are two things I would like to be able to do, though, that so far don’t seem possible:
1. Allow more content before it gets truncated.
2. Use a “Read More …” link to the event when it is truncated. Right now all I get is […] with no link.

Posts on this site do have “Read More” link, but the events do not.

Both would be possible with a shortcode, but I haven’t found anything that works with the Advanced List Widget.

Do I need to switch to a shortcode to make this work?

I’m using a non-responsive theme (StudioPress Education) on the Genesis Framework.

We’ve got some info about customizing our List Widget and using the shortcode version of this widget.

If this info doesn’t answer your questions, could you please send me a screenshot of your widget so I can confirm which widget type you’re using and how you’ve got it setup?
