    Hi,

Would it be possible with your codex to create a custom search for the calendar? I.E. add other search options like event category, state, etc.

    Thanks,
    Frank

Good evening Frank and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!

Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your question.

    Absolutely.

We have built this plugin in a way that makes it easy to customize.
I would recommend looking at this link for that very purpose: https://theeventscalendar.com/customizations/

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Actually, no it does not. The kind of customization I am talking about is not just look and feel. It would need to change the search criteria used to look up events to display in the calendar. Is that possible?

Ok, how about I try and explain it this way. I want to create a totally custom user interface for the search criteria that the user uses to search events. It would look nothing like the standard one the calendar comes with and would have more lots options. Is that possible? I would like to know before I buy this product and spend tons of time on research.

    Good evening Frank,

    These are great questions.
I am sorry my initial answer did not help.

The main ways in which our plugins are customizable are:

    1. Through view/template overrides. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.

This is more than just a look and feel change, it literally lets you take any view and tweak it’s behaviour to your liking. You can dequeue functions, replace them with our own, add new parts, remove some that you do not want, etc..

    2. Through extensions or simple functions.php filters and actions.
    3. Through page templates. This basically let’s use our functions to your liking. You can even heavily borrow from the existing views if you want to.
    4. Through the use of plugins such as advanced custom post fields

So in short, the possibilities are endless.

That being said, although we are excited about the possibilities of customizations that are offered, our support for customizations is limited to pointing our customers in the right direction to get started.

Finally, our list of recommended customizers (mentioned in my previous reply) could most likely help you accomplish whatever you have in mind.

    Have a good weekend,

    Geoff B.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
