Customizable?

I’m not a computer genius at all, but thanks to google and YouTube I am learning. I built the site using themler and WordPress, now I was exploring the events calendar. I want some customization and don’t know if this is in the pro-package. Simple adjustments like instead of “Venue” title it “Location”, and changing “organizer” to “instructor”, etc. As I have been playing with the free version, which looks great!!!! I do wish to make some changes first before using it fully. We are a volunteer ambulance service that offers community classes like CPR, EMT, continuing education, etc. our team of volunteers are simply looking for a better way to communicate the dates times and how to sign up. Additionally, we are looking for an easier way for the community to sign-up and allow us to limit number of participants/students, and track the rosters.

What you want is definitely possible as a small customization. You can do it even with the free version. We have a nice tutorial here that walks you through everything:

You can see there the example changes Venue to Company and Organizer to Speaker. Modifying that example a little bit will get you where you need to be.

If you do need assistance with anything you still might be interested in getting a license to one of our plugins. We offer a year of support with each license, and can help you if something like this is still giving you trouble.

Thank you very much for the response. I followed your suggestion and it worked well.

Now I’m trying to put the events in the site, but I can’t seem to customize the screen itself. It is going to the “default-theme” which is a theme I had built using Themler. I can’t find the “event” page to customize it. Is this a pro-option only?

Howdy Paul,

The Events page is a “WP Archive Page”. It is exactly like your Tag archive page (where you would view all posts with a given tag) your Category archive page (all posts in a category) etc. Many themes/plugins do not list all of these pages and thus do not give the ability to edit them along side other pages.

Currently there is no “Pro only” option to modify this. It is just the nature of WordPress. However, when version 4.3 of our plugin comes out it will include shortcodes for embedding the calendar within regular pages. So you could create a regular page, embed the calendar with a shortcode, and it will likely show up in Themler. Not a feature yet, but it will be with our next “major” release.
