ParticipantMy theme uses a custom meta field (is_featured) to place posts in the home page slider. I’m trying to set the same custom field (setting the value to 1) for specific events, but it doesn’t seem to take. I set the value to 1, save the event, but when I go back to review the event, the value has reverted to 0.
How can I set this field in events?

MemberHi John.
If I understand you, you’re adding your own custom field that has “is_featured” as its meta_key.
And in the wp-admin editor for your Event, you change that custom field’s value to “yes” or “1” or something else and it always results in being set to “0” (number zero).
Is this correct? Did you test “yes” or something else besides “1”?

ParticipantYes, that is exactly correct. “1” is what the theme uses to determine whether to display the post in the featured area (and is what appears in that custom field in other posts), so I’m assuming that’s the value that needs to be there.

MemberCould you please share a video screen capture so I can see exactly what’s happening at your site?
You may choose to set your reply to “Private” if you don’t want the links to be as publicly-accessible.

ParticipantHi Cliff — I’ve attached two screenshots. One shows the publication status of the event (published) and second is the custom field with the value. I’m finding now that the trigger value (“1) is remaining in place, but the event is not being placed in the featured section of the site

MemberThat makes more sense. I’m guessing your slider/featured section is limiting which post types it’s pulling from.
Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.
