    I have a back-end user role for those in the office to manage just our event calendar. They can do everything they need to from the back-end except the meta box to set a featured image is missing. What capability am I missing?

    Hi. Thanks for your detailed question; the screenshots helped.

    I’d guess checking “Upload files” (technically the ‘upload_files’ capability) might be the missing piece.
