CSV Import (admin only)

CSV import option only shows if you are logged in as an admin and not as editor, contributor or author (and obviously not in subscriber). Entering the direct http address for CSV import returns a permissions error. Can you please update the code so that the option of CSV import appears for at least editors (and maybe authors or contributors also). My colleagues who help maintain the website (but do not have admin permissions) cannot use this feature. Thanks

We can certainly look into a change here – I’ll log an issue for this and we’ll have a think about what the best approach might be here.

Hi: we’ve reviewed this request and I wanted to let you know that, on this occasion, we will not be making any changes here.

The reasoning is that we want to mirror WordPress as closely as possible. By default, WordPress provides the import capability only for admin users and we wouldn’t want to deviate from this unless there was a really compelling reason to do so. You can certainly assign this capability to other roles or even build completely new roles locally, however, to meet any specific requirements for your own project.
