Creating Custom Sidebar Widget (random events)

Hello,

Love your plugin. I would like to create a custom sidebar widget to display events on my site. I want to show a random event that will occur within the next 1-2 weeks. I also want to display the wordpress featured image for the event in the sidebar. Can anyone give me directions on how to setup a custom widget like this? I’ve got some PHP knowledge, but need someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Yes I do have a solution for you. Sorry this took so long! I’ve been meaning to submit this as a plugin in the WordPress.org repo but haven’t had time yet. Take the following code and create a new PHP file and place in your plugins folder, it will then show up as a plugin you can activate in your plugins page: https://www.sourcedrop.net/8hE5fd513b378

The only things you may want to change are the date parameters and the markup for the event data.
