ParticipantFirst, let me say I LOVE Events Calendar Pro… that said, I am having trouble integrating it into a rather lean WordPress site as it is conflicting with S2Member. I can use either Events Pro OR S2Member- but not both. If they are both on, I loose the ability to use the Fusion Shortcode editor. I am not sure what to do. I need to use BOTH… or, I need a recommendation for a plugin that does not conflict with Events Calendar Pro which will allow MEMBERS ONLY areas on my site. Thank you.

MemberHi Peppermint Soda – that’s unfortunate.
I’m not sure how much we’re going to be able to do here, but can I just confirm the problem is only with the Fusion Shortcode editor – or at least that is the only component which is affected – and it is only when S2 Member and Events Calendar PRO are active (ie, having The Events Calendar itself activated with S2 doesn’t cause any issues)?
Can you also fill me in on what Fusion Shortcode editor is – is that a plugin (if so I can’t seem to locate it on the wordpress.org repo) or is it something bundled with your theme?
Thanks!

ParticipantHello Barry. Thanks for getting back to me. The other component that is effected when Events Calendar PRO and S2 Member run together is that I can no longer view images in my media libary- the library is blank. When I turn off either S2Member or Events Calendar PRO the images in the media library become visible once again. The ability to see images in the Media Library is core WordPress functionality. Fusion shortcode is something that came bundled with the theme- it brings up a drop down in the content area so you can easily add design elements or objects like a testimonial format, column based layouts etc. It looks like others are having a similar problem: http://theme-fusion.com/forums/topic-tag/shortcode/ I have not purchased S2Member but I really need a solution to have member-only content. The BIG QUESTION HERE IS: I am starting to see a bigger issue with a modular WordPress solution- It is highly likely that at one point in time a site will have conflicts with plugins or WP version- even if it starts out very stable. When a company invests into managing their events with Events Calendar PRo and then a conflict arises, you can’t just switch platform or plugin- you have to get it to work SOMEHOW. Turning things off that conflict and not using them is not an option. What should I do? I need Events Calendar Pro.

ParticipantI resolved the issue via the link I embedded above. I needed to change an option indigenous to the theme. . . However, I would be incredibly thankful if you had an opinion about methodology to resolve plugin conflicts when they arise. Once you’ve identified the conflict, what are your options:
• Stop using one and switch to something else (this is not reasonable when you have an investment in the plugin and data related to it like the Events Calendar has)
• Fix it (HOW??)Thank you~

MemberI’m glad you resolved this 🙂
With regards to methodology for resolving conflicts, that is harder to answer. It’s certainly important to have development and staging sites to test things out and see how they play with existing components before integrating them in to a live or production site (and this could prevent something that causes a problem ever entering the main flow).
If you have two or more items which conflict with one another, though, and cannot readily dispose of any of them, then really that’s something to assess on a case-by-case basis. It might be the issue can be resolved by some new code that effectively smooths over the cracks, or it might be one item just has to go. Then again, there are those rare occasions when directly modifying core plugin or theme code is the best course of action – but I’m not sure there is any one size fits all solution that can be offered up, I’m afraid.
Is there anything else we can help with re the initial issue?

ParticipantThanks for chiming in on the “resolving conflict” methodology. It’s hard because plugins are 3rd party- Thanks for the support.
