Hunter
MemberWe are having a couple of issues with when using the combination of IE9 w/ a Google Toolbar and our search results page.
The Issue:
When attempting to do a search (http://www.visityanktonsd.com/calendar/) with IE9, with a Google Toolbar in the browser, the following issue occurs:The issue has been where half of the results page when searching in the calendar, is truncated. Like half of the code is simply not there. I have updated Word Press, The Events Calendar and several other plugins, but did not change the outcome. I did reset the event calendar plugin and it worked, without the search feature. What are we doing wrong to trigger this response from IE with Google Toolbar? Is this something that you are aware of and is there anything we can do to resolve it?
Thanks!November 8, 2012 at 2:39 pm #27728Barry
MemberHi Hunter,
I’m probably one of the few people on the team here with access to Windows and Internet Explorer, however I will not be able to test this out today I’m afraid.
Can you confirm the exact steps to replicate this – do you mean I should visit http://www.visityanktonsd.com/calendar/ and search using the Google Toolbar itself, or using the search box at the top of that page, or using the keyword search under Calendar of Events?
Thanks for clarifying – it will just save time in case I can’t replicate this first time round 🙂

Member‘Ello!
Happy to help out here Hunter – but since it involves resetting my workstation I’d rather have full instructions in terms of how I should replicate this.
Of course if you don’t need any further help that’s totally fine, too 🙂

MemberBarry,
The exact steps are:
Click on the link: http://www.visityanktonsd.com/calendar/
Put in some dates in the search criteria
Click Search
However, you need to have the Google Search Bar added to your browser. You don’t actually use it for anything, but for some reason, just its presence makes the page come back all distorted.November 12, 2012 at 3:02 pm #27938Hunter
MemberIf you uninstall the Google Tool bar the search results come back just fine using the same steps. Let me know if you need anything else.

MemberOK, thanks for those instructions.
I’m not sure I can see any difference whether I have the Google Toolbar installed or not, it certainly doesn’t look notably distorted to me (perhaps you are using an earlier version of Internet Explorer)?
I did notice that for instance the resource styling/calendar.css returns a 404, perhaps that could also be impacting?

MemberAs a further sidenote, I also noticed some odd effects such as unusual delays while the page was put together and at one point this displayed on a completely unstyled page:
Widget Effects by shailan (http://shailan.com) v1.7.2 on wp3.3.1
Numerous errors were evident in the console at that point … so while I can’t replicate this I wonder if those could be factors?

MemberHi Hunter, since I can’t replicate this and we’ve had no other reports, I am wondering if this is a highly specific problem seen only on your computer and any identical machines in terms of browser, browser extensions and underlying operating system.
There’s not really much more I can offer I’m afraid, so unless you have any further questions or ideas you want us to explore my inclination is to close this thread.

MemberSo I’ll close this off now – but do feel free to create a new thread if there is anything else we might be able to help with.
