    Hello,

I updated to 4.0 and everything appears to be working fine so far, however there is a feature that I am curious about. In the “idea suggestions” it was stated that community users would now be able to access events that have already passed. This is a highly desired feature for my site since it will allow users to follow up with the donations raised during the event as well as a link to a donation confirmation page.

Here is the feature page that mentioned this feature will be available in the 4.0 update: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/7105613-show-previous-events-link-on-organizer-venue-p

Is there an option to allow this that I can not find or is the feature just still in the testing phase?

Thanks for making such an awesome plugin!

    Hey Mark,

Thanks for getting in touch and for the kind words. 🙂

Good question. Yes, there is now a link to a user’s past events in the Community Events add-on when the user is view ing their events (screenshot). Let me know if that same link doesn’t appear for you and we can troubleshoot that together. 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hi Geoff,

No problem. If it weren’t for you guys then I couldn’t get the site up and running so quickly and the community wouldn’t have already raised over $16k for charity. 🙂

So for me the page design hasn’t changed, despite upgrading to 4.0. (Screenshot)

I’m noticing that it’s not just the link in the bottom right, but the other visual elements as well. Let me know what would be some good first steps to start trouble shooting and thank you for your help.

Also, is there a demo site I can access so I can see all the changes that are supposed to be implemented with the new 4.0 upgrades? I only ran into this one since I’ve been following this feature so closely, but now I’m unsure if there are other things that may not be working properly. If there was a base site to explore then that would be helpful.

Hey Mark, thanks for following up!

Interesting. In the system info you provided, I see three renamed instances of Modern Tribe plugins:

    • The Streams Calendar PRO
    • The Streams Calendar: Community Streams
    • The Streams Calendar: Filter Bar

Have you modified the plugins so that they are named different than what ships out of the box? If so, I’d be interested to see a fresh install of those plugins downloaded straight from our site here and whether that makes a difference.

I also notice you have these two plugins installed:

    • The Events Calendar: Snippet 950694
    • Event Rocket

The Events Calendar was a major update and some previous code that was compatible in 3.0 is no longer compatible, so I wonder if the first plugin snippet should be deactivated in case it is causing a conflict. Event Rocket is also no longer supported since 4.0 was released, so it would be worth deactivating that one as well.

Let’s start here and see what we find. 🙂

    Thanks!
    Geoff

    Hi Geoff,

I haven’t modified the plugins, so that is strange. At the moment I’m moving the domain to a new host, so I’ll download a fresh install of all the plugins once that is done to test.

I deactivated the other two plugins, but that didn’t solve the issue either. I’ve reactivated Event Rocket for the moment since I need it to pull the event calendar to the homepage until another fix can be found or I completely revamp the page.

I’ll update here once I have the chance to re-implement the other plugins. 😉

Also, I’m wondering if there is any current way to showcase all the events that a user has created in a list/table/other that could be added to a user’s profile. I know that right now there isn’t the feature to have a creator’s information automatically populate an event’s organizer field (although that would be awesome) but if there’s a way for the system to automatically showcase the past events that a user has created in a public manner, then that would be a big boost for what I’m working toward. (I know it’s only somewhat relevant to this topic and I can create a new topic if needed. Just figured I’d ask.)

    Hope you’re doing well.

Thanks, Mark! Definitely keep me posted on what happens when you install fresh versions of the plugins. I’m very curious to see if the naming gets changed up there as well.

Also, I’m wondering if there is any current way to showcase all the events that a user has created in a list/table/other that could be added to a user’s profile.

Yeah, this would be possible, though it will take a bit of custom development to accomplish. I would recommend using the get_posts() as a starting point to fetch posts. From there, you can set the post_type parameter to tribe_events and set the author parameter to the ID of the author(s) you want to feature.

Looking forward to hearing more on the progress you make with the re-install!

    Cheers,
    Geoff
