ParticipantI am running The Events Calendar 4.1.3 – Pro 4.1.2 – community events 4.1.1 and filter bar 4.1
When a registered user tries to add a new event using the community events plugin it will not let the user choose a category. The categories are listed but you can’t check any of the boxes. — Also community user can’t add a new venue.Changing to 2016 made no difference and I also deactivated all other plugins, again no difference.

ModeratorHey Jonathan,
Welcome to the forums and thanks for the descriptive post. I’d be happy to help look into this issue.
I just did a quick check on our logged bug reports and don’t see anything relating to the issue you’re describing. I’ve also tested my submit event form and was able to successfully select category boxes in addition to adding new venues.
I visited your site’s submit event page. Would you mind temporarily allowing public submissions so I can take a look at the form?
Thanks again for reaching out and have a good rest of the day 🙂

ParticipantI turned on anon submissions so you can try it.

ModeratorHey Jonathan,
Thank you for getting back to me. I attempted to add an event, including selecting multiple categories and adding a new venue. Everything went well and I was given the ‘Event Submitted’ confirmation text as expected. Please let me know if you saw an event come through titled ‘Tribe Testing’ and we’ll go from there.
Thanks again and have a great rest of the day.

ParticipantOK, I turned anon submission off and now the issue is back – a generic registered user can’t check the category or create a new venue. So, my guess is that there is some kind of permissions problem…

ModeratorHey Jonathan,
Can you test with some dummy accounts set at different roles and confirm that?

ParticipantI created a dummy account and they user has to have be a contributor or above to add a new venue or to choose a category. Is there a way to make it so a subscriber level user can do those things?
