ParticipantHey guys, we have a simple website running currently at yogaconnection.blackfoot.net.nz and have a community events form here. http://yogaconnection.blackfoot.net.nz/classes/community/add
The issue we’re having is that the organiser information (whether it’s selecting an existing organiser or creating a new one) doesn’t actually show up in the back end fields when viewing the draft post. When you publish the class the organizer section is blank, as well as the Organizer section in the back end, it doesn’t have any organizers in the list.
We are currently running all latest versions of the plugins and WP. Does this sound like an issue that you’ve seen before? Login details are available on request. Cheers!

MemberHi Kyle and welcome back to the forums!
That’s really strange. I just tested this myself with the following:
- Set Community Events submissions to Draft status when submitted
- Create a new event as an anonymous (non-logged in) user
- Select an existing Organizer in the event options
- Submit the events
- Check the event in the admin dashboard
I was able to see the organizer in the back-end dashboard (screenshot) as well as the editor (screenshot). Do you happen to notice something different when you follow the same steps, or are you using a different set of steps I can try as well? Let me know and we can keep digging from there. 🙂
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Geoff,
Quite simply what happens for us is that the Organizer fields simply don’t get filled out. Below is a link to a couple screenshots of what I submitted on the front end, and what we are getting in the back end.
This is done while logged out and another try logged in, both give us the same result. The client at this point is really angry about it. Also she gets two emails every time a class is submitted, do you know what could be causing that duplicate?

MemberHi Scott,
Are you following the same steps I am when the issue pops up? I want to make sure I’m troubleshooting the same thing you are, especially if we are getting different results.
If you are following the same steps and still seeing the issue, then will you please following the steps outlined in this guide? It will help us testing whether there is a conflict with the theme or perhaps another installed plugin.
If you are following different steps, will you please outline them here for me so I can try to recreate the issue on my end?
I do notice in the screenshots that Organizers are called Teachers on the front end and Organizers on the back end. Not sure if that’s a clue, but let’s start with the the above steps and go from there. 🙂
Also she gets two emails every time a class is submitted
Is it the same email or one for the submissions and another when the event has been edited? Either way, please do open another thread on this so we can focus on the primary question.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Geoff I am following the same steps you are:
Set Community Events submissions to Draft status when submitted
this was already setup in Events > Settings so there was no active action here, is that correct?
Create a new event as an anonymous (non-logged in) user
Again this was also already ticked in Events > Settings in the dashboard, so no active action was done here when I tested, is that correct?
Select an existing Organizer in the event options
No I was trying to set up a new one, there was currently no Organizer in the event options
Submit the events
Yep
Check the event in the admin dashboard
Yep
Regarding the name changed from Organizers to Teachers, this is simply a label change done by javascript on page load.
Any way, I’ve tried flipping over to Twenty Thirteen, disabling all plugins except Tribe Events and flushing cache, unfortunately the issue is exactly the same as last time.

MemberHi Kyle,
Ah, there’s the difference! I was testing with an existing organizer and you were testing with a new one in the submission process.
I do see the issue as well. I’ve created a ticket in our system and will definitely keep you posted as we learn more.
Thanks for reporting this!

ParticipantHey Geoff, I was just hoping to get a quick update on where you guys got to with this? The client has just been in for a meeting and we are very keen to go live on Monday in the hopes that this issue will be resolved this week. Please let me know how that sits with you.
Cheers,
ScottNovember 24, 2015 at 6:06 pm #1030449David
ParticipantHi Geoff,
I, too, am waiting for this issue to be resolved before I can approve several community events — and promote them in an upcoming issue of our newsletter. Please keep me in the loop.

MemberHi folks,
This ticket is still in the system and will be handled, for sure. I don’t have a specific timeline or date, I’m afraid, but will be certainly keep you posted when there’s more to share.
Thanks!

ParticipantGeoff, thanks for the update. I have discovered a few more bugs with the community plugin. Would you like me to post here or start a new thread?

MemberHi Allyson,
A new thread per issue would be great! Thanks for asking. 🙂

ParticipantHey Geoff I appreciate that you have already said you don’t have a time frame or date for the fix on this, but can we sort one out? Please understand that we have invested both time and money into implementing this service that we’ve paid for, and the client has had to delay their launch because of it. I must assume that this is your top priority because it’s a broken product, and for that reason I hope you understand the importance of letting us know a time frame for us to change our plans for. We can’t wait ‘Maybe days, maybe weeks, maybe months’.
Thanks,

ParticipantHey guys, we have gone ahead and paid another developer to patch the plugin for us. This took him less than an hour. Here are his comments:
“The plugin “Community Events” appears to have been incompletely developed before it was sold to you. I have found that there is inconsistencies in the naming conventions of form fields for the organizer section and how that maps as an array to the saving of meta data to post types. To patch this up quickly as discussed, I have made it so that all events created through the front-end can only have one existing Organizer selected at the time of event creation. I have removed the link that used to be there that would allow multiple Organizers to be listed. I have also added some code to patch up the broken naming conventions so that all Organizer meta data is stored as intended.”
We are very disappointed that there hasn’t been a resolution to this issue. Allyson, please email me directly at kyle-at-blackfoot-dot-net-dot-nz if you would like an instance of this patched plugin. Keep a copy incase the updates break it again.
