Community Events Submissions – Adding Custom Event Images

I’m after some direction on how to make some custom changes to the submission process for the Community Events plugin.

There is currently and option to ad an event image with each submission. The user can select the “Chose Image” button and upload an image.

I’d like to change this so that the user does not have the ability to upload an image, but they can select from an assortment of already available images.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get started with this?

First, please let me note that we are fairly limited in how much support we can give for custom development questions like that.

That said, we always like helping out and at least point users into the right direction as much possible.

To accomplish what you are looking for, I’d suggest you take a look at the image.php template file located at /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar-community-events/src/views/community/modules/ 

That is the template for the event image uploader. Using our Themer’s Guide as a reference, you could remove the image uploader and come up with some custom coding that would show some sort of images selector.

Thank for your reply Victor. I understand what you mean in regards to giving support on custom development.

Your suggestions are very helpful and a great starting point for me. The custom coding is a little beyond my skills, however I at least now have a better understanding of what is required and can create a more accurate brief when looking for a more qualified developer to help me with the custom development work!
