GuestHi there,
It is clear that i need community events to enable users to post their events.
But i want to run a payed listing, so that users need to pay for displaying their events. Is it possible somehow?
Thanks.August 13, 2015 at 8:53 am #995807Geoff
MemberHi @barbarossa,
This is a great question and a great idea as well. I’m sorry to say that charging for event submissions to The Events Calendar via Community Events is not currently possible. However, I am happy to say that it is an idea that has been suggested in our feature request forum and that it is currently under review. I do see that we have an open ticket in our system and are actively looking into the idea, though I don’t have any additional information as far as how that feature would work or when (or if) it will be released.
Please do add your vote to the feature request and you will receive more updates as progress is made.
Sorry this probably isn’t what you were hoping for, but does it at least help answer your question?
Cheers,

GuestThanks for the answer Geoff.
However i am realyy surprised by the fact it was suggested 2 years ago, your team thinks it is a great idea, many of us just need it… and still it is not done yet. Despite with woocommerce it should not be a big deal to develop and you definately know how woocommerce works as you use that for the ticketing plugin. So why can not tribe develop this vital feature in 2 years time?
Question 2: is there any hook in the code of community events plugin right now that would make it possible for me to implement something similar for me on my own? I mean i do not have a license and can not look in the code, but most probably i will not pay for it if i can not implement this function at least on my own.
Question 3: if i would like to commit this feature to the event community could i have a free copy of it for developing purposes?August 13, 2015 at 2:03 pm #995892Geoff
MemberThanks for following up, @barbarossa!
I totally hear you on the two-year timeframe. The truth is that such a feature requires a lot of heavy lifting and reworking of the plugin from the ground-up. We also have to prioritize other features and ongoing maintenance to make sure the plugin continues to be great in its current state. So, yes, it’s a great idea and we are now actively looking into what it would take to make happen.
Question 2: is there any hook in the code of community events plugin right now that would make it possible for me to implement something similar for me on my own?
We do have all Community Events hooks listed in our documentation.I’d imagine it is possible to build a custom solution, though we would unfortunately be unable to provide a ton of support for that effort–though we will always try our best to point you in the right direction.
Cheers!

GuestThanks for the hooks’ list i will check it through and think about a possible solution.
Actually you are looking into it for a year now and if you implement just a basic feature (paying needed to save the user’s event in the DB) with no further options (number of postable pictures, etc.), it definately would not need any heavy lifting of the code. Even i could do that within some days, though i have not ever seen your code. I bet you could do it even faster as you definately know your own code much better :-). Many of us would be happy even with that a basic solution and later you could finegrain more options.
In my opinion if you sell a module for at least $89 you simply can not afford a total lack of such a feature. This way you monetise on your buyers but you simply do not let them monetise on the feature for what you have built your whole ecosystem.

MemberThanks for the additional feedback here, @barbarossa. I appreciate your thoughts for sure but do believe you are making a hefty amount of assumptions about both the ease of work required on a single plugin that is affected by a complete suite of others and the degree to which we care about meeting the needs of many, many customers.
I respect your opinion about pricing and would go so far as to say that it may not be the right fit for you. I’m truly sorry if the plugin will not meet your needs in its current form and hope we will your expectations for a monetizing the event submission process soon enough.
Thanks again for reaching out and best of luck with your project!
