community events — make private by default?

We’re thinking about purchasing the community events plugin, but have a question first. We have a club membership site. Our events calendar is currently publicly viewable, and only members of the club executive can create events (via the WP dashboard). Our members are interested in creating events as well. We’d like to use the community events plugin for this so it can happen via the front-end, but we’d like for member-submitted events to be private, only visible by the membership rather than the public. Is this possible?

Yes, this is possible with a custom snippet for this case. If members and exclusive members can be distinguished (two different users roles) it’s possible to craft a snippet that checks the author level once the event is submitted. Once you detect and exlusive member is submitting the event it’s just a matter or making the event private (if this makes sense) or just assign a ‘premium category’ or tag to hide it in the front-end (unless you are a exclusive member).
