    I am having a similar issue to this topic.

    Community Events – category not saved in draft

    And I know this has been solved in the new update. But can I update the community events plugin to 3.8, but not events calendar pro? I have customized the events module and do not want to lose my work. Will they still work together?

    Thanks for reaching out to us!

    You’re right, it looks like that issue was resolved with the ‘3.8.1’ release of the Community Events plugin. You can try updating Community Events without updating the Pro plugin. However, we can’t guarantee that they will be 100% compatible.

    If they do happen to be compatible right now, this definitely shouldn’t be a long-term solution. The best option would be to take advantage of our built-in hooks along with the suggestions within our Themer’s Guide to move these customizations to your theme.

    I’m sorry I wasn’t able to give you a direct response however I hope this was able to point you in the right direction.

    If I move my customized files to the location that the Themer’s Guide suggests will my edits be saved when I go to update the module?

    Thanks for following up with us!

    Any customizations made to the plugin within the theme using the instructions within the Themer’s Guide will persist even when the plugin is updated.
