ParticipantHi there,
after the last updates i got new issues.
As you can see on screenshot: the adding form for the events is much smaller than before. It’s only 2/3 of the content space, before it was 100%. What had happend?
And the other problem ist the translation. Before updating all englisch to german translation were perfekt,
now the add formIt is partially german partly english. Veranstaltung Categories an the categories are like li elements with a disque.
It’s very often wehn you bring put an update that something new is working fine but very often the css is having chenges so the lyout is always looking different.
My client is very angry about that and i have to correct some issues i don’t caused. I dont’t work for my fun and it is very hard to explain my client that i don’t want to clear that problems without beeing payed for it. So i give the issus to you now. Please check it and if possible send me the css code which i have to correct.

MemberGood evening Muriel and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the width changing on you. Yikes!
I would love to help you with this topic.Without seeing the actual web page, it is hard to know exactly what happened.
Would it be possible to provide me with some temporary credentials (in a private reply) so that I can see the page and run some tests ?
And the other problem ist the translation. Before updating all englisch to german translation were perfekt,
now the add formIt is partially german partly english.Full disclosure, we had issues with our language files over the last few updates. We apologize for the inconvenience. This should go back to normal in our next release.
In the meantime, you could simply download and use the language files found here: http://translations.theeventscalendar.com/projects
Veranstaltung Categories an the categories are like li elements with a disque.
This is something that can be fixed easily with some Custom CSS rules. Once I see the page, I should be able to help with that.

You are right. Sometimes our updates do have some unintended CSS consequences.
Please rest assured that we take this issue very seriously. The good news is that, most of the time, this is easily fixable.
With that in mind, this will also largely depend on what theme our customers are using and if they have made CSS changes directly in our plugin or in their theme’s CSS files.
To prevent that from happening we recommend:
- Making sure you use a child theme or some type Custom CSS box (theme-based or through a plugin)
- Avoid changing CSS directly in our plugin’s style sheet
- Always test updates on a staging/testing server first

I totally understand where you are coming from and I wish neither you or your client had to experience that.
I also believe that the recommendations in the previous points should ensure this never happens again.
Best regards,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi there,
the problem ist: it happens always, every update brings some issues, it’s not funny to work with your calender and my client is immediatly looking for another solution. As soon, as we find a possibility to transfer existing event into antoher calendar system we will do that. I never saw some paid plugins which ar making so much probs as yours…
The problem the width of the events adding form, was a prob with the theme yout calendar is used with. It’s a great problem, that the event calender ist not usable with a lot of themes. I solved the prob with putting in some media queries now it works.
Language i’m working on it…
THX
P.S. a new problem after the update yersterday comes out, but i will open another thread for it.

MemberGood evening Muriel,

I deeply regret that you did not have a good experience over the last few updates while using our plugins.
We take this type of feedback very seriously and I truly wish none of this happened to you or your client.
We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you.
Please know that we do share your goal: provide our customers with the most stable calendar plugin with as little update impact as we can.
With that in mind, when there are in fact glitches with an update, we actively work on fixes and try to provide workarounds and support as fast as possible.
In fact, this is exactly what I tried to do in my previous answer: find the cause of the issue, help you fix it and provide you with tips to avoid such unpleasant experiences moving forward.
The problem the width of the events adding form, was a prob with the theme yout calendar is used with. It’s a great problem, that the event calender ist not usable with a lot of themes. I solved the prob with putting in some media queries now it works.
I totally understand why you are very disappointed with your experience with our plugins and I feel it is totally legitimate.
Kudos on finding a fix.
You are right, there is an important number of themes out there that might require some CSS adjustments to display nicely.
We still try to make the calendar compatible with as many themes as possible (that follow the WordPress coding standards), but realistically, with the thousands of themes out there, it is not always possible.
However, in my experience, with the correct settings, I have found the calendar to work with the majority of themes out there.
And when that is not the case, we are always eager to help fix that to the best of our abilities.
Please let me know if you need help with the language issue.
Have a good weekend,
Geoff B.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
