ParticipantWe have a weird look on our page in regards to adding an event.
here is a view of the page: http://ttoosd.wpengine.com/events/community-events/add
The calendar works fine with the theme, but for some reason this page not so much. Any thoughts?

ParticipantJust because I know you won’t be logged in, you will see the issue where the log-in and logout area is at the top of the page as well as in the Testimonial area of the site.
Sames thing goes with add an event. It is in both areas.

MemberHi Glenn and welcome to the forums!
Sorry for the trouble here. That’s certainly an odd issue and I see what you mean.
I see you noted having tried:
Deactivated all other plugins? Yes
Switched to a default theme? YesDid you notice any difference in those conditions? How about when you deactivated all other plugins and switched to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Fifteen) at the same time? Do you see any difference there?
I honestly haven’t seen this sort of issue come up in the past and am suspicious that we’re looking at either a theme or plugin conflict. Let’s start here and see what we find.
Thanks,

ParticipantYeah, it worked properly on the other theme.
Wondering if I can just use a shortcode instead as it is probably the theme causing this issue. This may stop the issue.

MemberI wish there was a shortcode for the form–that’s actually a really interesting idea and I’m surprised we haven’t heard that requested more often. In fact, it has been suggested on our feature request forum and could use some more votes, if you wouldn’t mind adding yours to the mix.
In the meantime, I think contacting the theme author is the best route–and, of course, please let me know of there is something we can do on our end to make the integration easier and I’d be happy to check that out.
Thanks,

ParticipantI will keep messing with it as it is just a weird bug going on here.
I say that because the Calendar works fine. However, the Community Event portion does not, so it makes me wonder what in the code you guys have has changed. The fact it is showing in the footer as well, is interesting.
Almost seems the footer area of this thing needs to be removed on that page, but still the top area of this thing does not look right at all. I don’t want to blame the theme on this, as it should sit similar to how the calendar does. The pages of the theme have not changed at all.
I will take a gander at the files for the community portion of your plugin to see where the conflict is. I will report back here shortly.
I will also vote on the shortcode, thanks.

ParticipantYeah, getting rid of the footer area absolutely helps in regards to the look and feel. Still not completely satisfied, but there is a conflict for sure.

Participantwhich .php page does the community events plugin get the footer from?
August 6, 2015 at 10:38 am #993973Geoff
MemberHi Glenn,
It looks like the Community Events is using the single page footer in this case–at least that that’s I see on the body class when I view the page source.
Removing the footer from there might be as easy as wrapping a conditional statement around the get_footer() function in the template using tribe_is_community_edit_event_page() as the conditional test.

ParticipantYeah, I removed the footer.
Also talked to the developer of the theme and he stated it is not the theme, but some coding in the application you guys developed that is throwing the error.
Maybe a naming issue or something.

MemberHi Glenn, nice work removing the footer!
It’s a little tough for me to troubleshoot this much further. If the plugin works correctly with a default WordPress theme, I have not been able to replicate the issue and we haven’t seen any other reports of this come in, then the chances are that the error is due to a conflict that stems from the theme itself.
I’d be happy to take another look on my end if you want to provide me with a zipped copy of your theme (you can share it via http://www.ge.tt). No promises that I can fix anything but perhaps I can at least see where there may be a red flag to look into further.
Please send the theme over if that’s something you’d be interested in and I’d be happy to check into it.
Thanks!
