community event submissions always end up as a draft

When a new event submission is received it gets marked as a draft, regardless of any settings.
My current Event Calendar PRO settings are:
* anonymous submissions: enabled.
* Default status for submitted events: published.

FYI – this didn’t work for me:

But this did:

Looking forward to getting a perm fix.
