combining post categories and event categories

Hi, on my website will be events (to be managed with the events calendar (pro) and regular posts, both belonging to the same category (let’s say “entrepreneurship”).

I want to show the category name in the menue and selecting the category shall display ALL content (post AND events) related to that category. The default behavior is that I have to choose between the two taxonomies.

Is there a way to achieve this and get a “combined category”?

Howdy Wolfgang, thanks for reaching out and checking out the calendar. 🙂

My suggestion would be to register a new custom taxonomy (category) and make it applicable to both Posts and Events.

There’s more info on how to register a custom taxonomy and assign it to post types in the WordPress Codex. You might also do a search for a custom taxonomy plugin–there’s bound to be some of those available and might be easier than having to code the taxonomy yourself. 🙂
