I also wish to be able to identify which events the members have elected to go to as well as show other members which of their fellow members are attending the different events.
This is possible by using the Events Calendar in combination with either Event Tickets (free) or Event Tickets Plus
Both of these plugins allow you to do display the attendee list as part of the event details.
