MemberHi there John. Is it possible this could be related (http://d.pr/i/Vpww)? You don’t have that box checked, do you?

ParticipantNo, I don’t Rob.

ParticipantHi John,
At this point I still don’t have a complete solution for you but a work around and some light at the end of the tunnel. I noticed that I could not get WordPress SEO working properly for the main events page & list pages when I had the Events Template setting in Settings > The Events Calendar > Template set to the “Default Events Template” but it would work if I set this to “Default Page Template”. You could try that but you’re likely going to run into some layout issues that you’ll need to sort out. So, it’s a solution but it creates another potential problem…
We have a ticket out to check into the compatibility with the All In One SEO and WordPress SEO plugins, so we definitely have this on our radar to take a look and will do our best to get this straightened out ASAP.
That said, we also cannot guarantee out of the box compatibility with any theme or plugin and in some cases you’ll need to play with settings, modify code and work with your setup to get things working right yourself. Rarely is anything true plug and play.
I hope this helps and I’m sorry there’s not more we can do this moment. I’ll wait to hear back on looking into the SEO plugins more and will follow up here when I have a response and plan of action.
Thanks,

ParticipantJonah,
Thanks for writing back. I already had my template set in that manner and it has not helped. I have tried it both ways. I have tried many things.
I never asked you guys to guarantee out of the box compatibility, but I do think that the default behavior of your plugin in how it creates multiple calendar pages with the same title is simply very bad SEO. It will get a site hit for duplicate content quite fast. I was only using the Yoast SEO plugin to try to fix the problem that your company’s wonderful app created.
No, this does not help this problem. I do hope that this discussion of the issue however will motivate your company to address this issue as soon as you can. It will greatly improve your product.

ParticipantJonah,
Any progress from the Devs in making the plugin more SEO friendly? I am going to see if Yoast can help with this also.

ParticipantHi John,
Unfortunately I don’t have an update for you on this. It’s still on our radar and I’ve nudged the team to take another look but there’s nothing else I can do. If you need a solution for this right now I would suggest hiring a developer to help you implement the SEO functionality you need.

ParticipantJonah,
Would you know anyone that could work on this that is familiar with your company’s work?John

ParticipantJonah,
I have made some progress on this issue and I wanted to report that for the benefit of others that may be struggling with this.I have found that when I deactivated Yoast SEO and used All in One SEO instead and used the Default Events Template under the Template Settings tab that the Page Title issue is resolved perfectly. The page title now shows the category title and the name of the current month shown, — exactly what I need for good SEO!
My problem now is that that template is strangely styled (gridview and single end up taking up 100% of the screen with no padding) in my theme and I need to make some adjustments.

ParticipantHi John,
That’s great that the AIO SEO plugin works that way! If you need to make adjustments to your layout/templates I would suggest looking through the forum or out themer’s guide (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/) or some of the other tutorials and/or FAQ’s on how to do this.
Good luck!

ParticipantThanks Jonah. The tutorials were extremely helpful. I wish I had gone through them to begin with. I got the base ECP events template styled to fit seemlessly with the site.
