Changing the text for next and previous event links in single event view

In the single event view there are links at the top and bottom that go to the next and previous events. Is there a way to change the text to read “Next Event” and “Previous Event” rather than the title of those events? Having the titles of the events display in the single event view has caused some confusion for our customers.

Is it something we can change with a filter or do we have to go in and create a template? I’ve uploaded a screenshot and highlighted the links I am referring too.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Kevin!

Sorry to see this has been an issue for you! Fortunately there’s a pretty easy fix for it.

The best way to make the change you want is to copy the existing template from the plugin into your theme file as described in this guide: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/

The file you’re looking for is here:

/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/single-event.php

The links are on lines 48 & 49 and 81 & 82.
