Changing organi*z*er to organi*s*er, again

Is there an easy way to Anglicise the word “Organiser” in output. This was asked before, and answered. But the answer refers to a code snippet which has disappeared.

There are a lot of uses of the word Organiser in the code. Searching through will be long, and global search and replace seems like overkill.

OK. I’ve done an en_GB translation. All it does is substitute organiser for organizer — as that’s the only anglicisation that’s jumped out at me. It seems to work. I’d be happy to share if you’d like me to email you the .po file.

Hi John,

Thanks for getting in touch and for working on the en_GB translation. A translation is the best and easiest way to change the spelling of organizer across the site in a way that won’t break when the plugin is updated. I would love to have you upload those files so that I can add them to the plugin for others to use.

Might you be willing to do a similar translation for Events Calendar PRO? We’d be happy to give you a free license in exchange. We always prefer to having matching translations for both core and PRO. .po and .mo files for en_GB ‘translations’ for the free and pro versions.

Change files that show what was anglicis/zed to get each.

The python program that did the work.

Do note that all of this was done as a quick hack. I’ve made the changes that jumped out at me, but am by no means sure that I got them all — or, having looked briefly at rules for anglicisation, that I even know what all should be. Boundaries between UK and US English seem to be becoming ever more porous. There is also no guarantee that the python program will work for any future version — or that it is entirely working for this one. Over to you.

In the meantime, I did notice two small typos in the original text. Somewhere you have ‘i’m’ (uncapitalised) and aprox which may be an overly appropriate way of saying approx.

I also appreciate your eagle eyes on the spelling/grammar errors. I’ve ticketed “aprox” to be fixed. I wasn’t able to find the instance of “i’m”… any chance you remember where that was?
