Changing event color

Yes, I’m a newbie. All of our events are posting in green in the full page calendar. Some of the events, however, are special days (Xmas, Easter, etc). I those to show in another color. I’ve looked around, but see no way to do that. Ideally the color choice would be assigned to a category so I don’t have to select it every time.
