ParticipantHello: I had an event that was part of a recurring series, and they all shared one featured image. I wanted to add a customized special image for ONE instance of that event, so I clicked EDIT SINGLE, it prompted me that it would break out of the series, and I agreed, then I added a new featured image for that single event. After clicking update, the featured image on all FUTURE versions of the event had also changed to the new image. I tested it again, being sure I was clicking EDIT SINGLE and NOT Edit All, and the same behavior occurred. How can I edit the photo so it only appears on that date and does not impact future recurrences of the event?
Also, do you have a way to place events into a slider that can appear on the front page of a site?
Thanks
Craig

MemberHi Craig:
Sorry you’re hitting difficulties here.
I can’t actually replicate the scenario you described – but here’s what I tried, just in case it varies somehow from the steps you ran through:
- Created a series of events recurring weekly for 6 weeks
- Edited the third in sequence (edit single – breaking it out of the sequence)
- Added a featured image and hit update
- Only that instance – now a standalone event – had the featured image that I just selected
- The subsequent and previous events from the original chain of events did not have a featured image
Is that different in any way from what you tried? I realize also that you noted having tried deactivating all other plugins: can you repeat that step and additionally switch to a default, unmodified theme at the same time and see if you can still replicate this problem (just in case it actually is the result of a conflict)?
Thanks! Let me know how you get on 🙂

MemberHi Craig,
Thanks for the follow up.
One thing to note, though I do appreciate you were sharing login details and those naturally aren’t suitable for inclusion in an open post, is that private replies can make it tricky for other users to research threads in the future. With that in mind it is definitely appreciated if you can use a single, short private reply for any confidential elements and keep the rest in public, open replies 🙂
On a separate note, two feature requests please:
– make it work with slider plugins or come up with a slider of your own to rotate images on a page, not a widget.
– and stop the events from showing up in the admin in reverse order. We’re always happy to receive feature requests – but please do post them on our UserVoice page. Doing so means others can show their support and/or you might find a suitable existing request you can add your support to.
WE DISABLED EVERY SINGLE PLUGIN…and the behavior still exists.
I appreciate you trying this. Before we go any further though I would again ask you to confirm that, when doing this, you additionally reverted to a default, unmodified theme? Can you further confirm that if we login you have A) made a backup and are confident in the process for restoring it and B) you don’t object to us repeating those same troubleshooting steps.
Thanks!

MemberThanks for providing access to the test site 🙂
Please also note that we try hard to stick to one issue per thread – so for any issues unrelated to the main problem I’d ask that you post new threads accordingly.
The first thing I did here was create two test sequences (“Test Sequence” and “2nd Test Sequence”), creating a featured image for both. I then edited a single instance – breaking it out of the chain – and from there I removed the featured image, replaced it with a new one and saved. The only difference in how I approached things with these two chains was that in the first case I singled out an event half way through the chain and, in the second case, I isolated the original event. Please see:
- …/event/test-sequence/all/
- …/event/test-sequence-2014-05-19/
- …/event/2nd-test-sequence/
- …/event/2nd-test-sequence-2014-05-09/all/
In both cases everything worked as expected.
We set up an event called TESTEVENT12 — search for it under EVENTS. We added a featured image which was a street sign for FOLSOM street…and then clicked publish. It displayed properly for all events. We then went to the first event in the series, clicked EDIT SINGLE, it prompted us that it would break from the series, and we agreed, then we CHANGED the featured image to a grey rectangle with a red border, and clicked update. This should have affected ONLY THAT SINGLE event.
Something does seem to have gone wrong with this test event, yet as you can see if you inspect the test events I created I am unable to reproduce this even on your own test site. It’s completely possible there is some subtle difference in how we’re approaching this, but I’m not sure what. Would you be able to create a screencast using Jing or some similar service so we can watch the exact steps you’re taking here, or else detail them more minutely?
Thanks!

MemberHi Craig,
Please do create a new thread for a separate issue like the one you just described: I’m not actually sure I see the issue (also, in photo view, the layout is not a rigid grid of rows and columns and there can be a degree of “displacement”) but definitely post this in a new thread and I or another team member will be happy to help 🙂
I’ll close this thread for the time being but will re-open once we’ve got an update to share re the original issue. Please do note that because we are currently close to the end of the current release cycle the fix for that initial issue will not be included in the imminent maintenance release – but we’ll certainly get to grips with it shortly thereafter.
Thanks!

I just wanted to update you here. We were not able to fix this issue in time for our upcoming release (3.6). However, it is still very much a priority and we hope to have it corrected in the next maintenance release. We will keep you posted on our progress. Thank you for your patience and support!
