Change the word "Ticket" to "Cost"

I am having trouble making this change to my theme’s Functions.php file. I am placing the code below near the top of the Functions file, but no changes are taking place. Can someone help? Thanks.

$custom_text = array(
‘ ticket’ => ‘Cost’,
);

I would love to help you with this topic.

There are a few ways to modify strings in our plugin.
The simplest way is the one found at the bottom of the following page: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/change-the-wording-of-any-bit-of-text-or-string/

But for tickets, depending on which string you want to change you might need to use another snippet.

Could you clarify for which screen you wish to change that string ?
