Change the default view for categories to List view

I tried pasting the snippet from the Knowledgebase article into my theme’s functions.php (. . . >wp-content>theme>my theme>functions.php (inserting between <?php and ?>). When I searched the Events Calendar by category I got the error: Fatal error: Class ‘Tribe_Events’ not found in /home/. . . on line 18. I must be pasting the snippet in the wrong place?

So sorry for the trouble here! The snippet was indeed a little outdated and I was able to fix it up into something that will do the trick.
