On the home page (monadnockcenterorg) on the right side I have three events listings, by different category selections, separated by tabs. At the bottom of the events list, there is a link to “View All Events”.
If you just mouse over it in each of the three tabs you’ll see that it links to the category for each of the three one:
    http://monadnockcenter.org/events/category/monadnock-center/upcoming/
    http://monadnockcenter.org/events/category/historical-2/upcoming/
    http://monadnockcenter.org/events/category/cultural/upcoming/

However, once you have clicked on one of those links, and you are in the category, it will not switch to another category. For example, if I click on the first category (monadnock-center/upcoming), view the events in that category, and then change the tab and click on the historical category link, it just remains on the monadnock center link. The only solution is a hard refresh, which most users are not going to figure out.

The ability to explore different categories is pretty critical – I will appreciate any insights and a solution.

    Hi Gordon,

This looks like a customization done by you or someone else to get three categorized event listings in the widget tabs. How did you set this up? Did you modify any of the widget code to get this setup this way?

    Hi Jonah,
Here’s how I set this up – basically using the widgets on pages within the tabs, and then each widget using a separate events list with category selects (see below). I realize this is a bit of an Escher-like solution, but it actually works great for what I want to accomplish (except for this problem). Assuming that the issue is from the widget-within-a-widget thing, I’d welcome your ideas for how to achieve the desired results. It opens up a lot of opportunity to have the tabs this way Thank you.

[tabs] [tab title=”Monadnock Center”] UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE CENTER
    [widgets_on_pages id=”Tri-Cal 1 Center”]
    [/tab]

[tab title=”Historical”] EVENTS AT LOCAL HISTORICAL SOCIETIES
    [widgets_on_pages id=”Tri-Cal 2 History”][/tab]

[tab title=”Cultural”] CULTURAL EVENTS IN THE REGION
    [widgets_on_pages id=”Tri-Cal 3 Culture”]
    [/tab] [/tabs]

    Hi Gordon,

Ok, that sounds good. What plugin are you using to load the events list widget in the tabs? Widget on Pages?

Yes. I have figured out a work-around, which you can now see on the site – I simply created a link within the Widget entry for the category. So now all I would need to do is to hide the “View All Events” link. That would be fine with me, however if you did think of any easy fix to the problem, that might free up future opportunities. Thanks.

    Hi Gordon,

That’s a pretty good solution and the alternative won’t be too easy so I’m going to spare our developers looking into this. You can hide the link by targeting the .dig-in class. Let me know if you need anything else with this.

    Regards,
    Jonah
