ParticipantI’m having an issue importing calendar events from a CSV file.
I have created multiple event categories through the WordPress admin, and have setup a column in my import CSV file called Event Category.
The values in my Event Category column match the categories I created through the WordPress admin, and when I click the file to import, and it goes to preview mode, I map the column in my CSV file “Event Category” to match the dropdown option “Event Category” in the preview window. But when I run the import, none of the events categories are imported with the events.
I’m not sure if it has to do with the option to for Category: “No Additional Categories”, all the other data is importing OK.
Could someone please help me figure out how to import events from a CSV with categories?
Thanks

MemberHi Shamsi!
Thanks for reaching out to us! 🙂
I’m really sorry you are having this issue.
I could reproduce your issue myself with the csv you sent and found out this is actually a bug that happens if the categories are only numbers.
I have logged a bug report for this and linked this thread to it, so the team will address it in one of our future maintenance releases and will let you know as soon as a bug fix is released.
For the moment, we don’t have a workaround for this but if in your case you can add one letter to the categories in the csv file, then that will make it work. I know it’s not ideal but it will get the categories imported.
I apologise for the inconvenience and we’d appreciate your patience.
Let us know if you have any other questions and we’ll be happy to assist.

ParticipantThanks, that seems to have the issue. I just added some letters to the category field as suggested and then it submitted OK.

MemberHi Shamsi!
Just wanted to share with you that a new maintenance release (for the Week of 18 September 2017) which implements a way to include numerically named categories on the CSV import, by adding a flag ‘%n’ on the category fields that you want to create if the Numeric ID doesn’t exist.
Developers can change which is the flag by using the ‘tribe_aggregator_csv_category_numeric_name_flag’ filter hook
Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-week-18-september-2017/
Please update the plugins and let us know if this works out for you, and don’t hesitate to ask any questions about it.
