can't see update notification on WP plugin page

    I’m running Community Events 4.4.5, but I don’t see the update notification on my WP dashboard’s plugin page. I did download the latest version to my local machine; can I just upload that to my WP installation even though WP doesn’t know there’s an update?

    (I have the same problem with Events Calendar PRO; see separate ticket)
