ParticipantHi,
I am currently working on an Event and in the description I am trying to have a link (or a shortcode button) that would open a pdf in a new window. I can’t for the life of me to get it to open in a new window. I have also tried just adding a link as well.
Any help would be great.
Website address is: http://store.tjgreenllc.com/event/21st-annual-cmse-components-military-space-electronics-training-exhibition/
There are 3 “buttons” there using the following code:
[button link_target=’_blank’ title=”View Advanced Program and Registration Book” link=”http://store.tjgreenllc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/2017-CMSE-Program_sm.pdf” size=”5″]
[button title=”View Exhibitor Invitation” link=”http://www.tjgreenllc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/CMSE-2017-Exhibitor-Registration.pdf” target=”_blank” size=”5″]
[button title=”Book Your Room” link=”https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/events/start.action?id=1701102115&key=244CC823″ target=”_blank” align=”” icon=”” icon_position=”” color=”” font_color=”” size=”5″ full_width=”” class=”seminar-button” download=”” onclick=””]
The 3rd one that opens another website does in fact work.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

MemberHi, Thomas.
Thanks for your detailed question.
If one of those is working, I’d assume the same format for the others works too.
If you re-arrange them so the buttons are in this order: first, third, second — then does the last button work?
Similarly, if you only have 1 button, does it work properly?
If yes to either of those, that’s an odder issue but still good to know.
If no, then I’d suggest you make your shortcode arguments don’t have any curly quotes or typos.
Regardless, our plugins do not add any “button” shortcode and you should direct any follow-up questions to the plugin or theme author whose code does add your site’s “button” shortcode.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
I tried your suggestion. First I reordered the buttons and only the starwoodmeeting button opened in a new link. So no change. Then I tried copying that link, and just replacing the link and name of link to make sure I wasn’t missing any code and no change. My third attempt was to realize the only difference in links was it being a secure site vs unsecured. So I added another test link with an unsecured link… and that opening in a new window as it should. So I am definitely at a loss.
The buttons work everywhere else as designed except on this part of the site. Any other thoughts?
Thanks for your reply.

MemberI’m sorry, but we cannot assist with plugin conflicts, such as with your button shortcode.
The Events Calendar PRO does have Additional Fields functionality, where you could enter a link in a URL Field and display that on your page, although that wouldn’t open in a new window either.
Maybe you could contact your theme/plugin author of that button shortcode and ask them to try it with our free The Events Calendar plugin.
