ParticipantHi Leah / Jonah,
As per webotools comment above, is there any news on this? This morning I am unable to save a recurring event on a site due to go live very soon. The only way I can save it is to turn off the ‘recurring’ settings for each event and then save. I’m due to pass this site on to a client in a few days so its a bit worrying as no doubt they will come across this issue.
I’m guessing this is not a straight forward fix as its been ongoing for a while now. If you could give us an update on progress that would be great, thanks.

MemberThanks Leah. So there are definitely some strange issues underpinning this (our references #17868 and #18411) and this is going to require further work from the dev team – I do appreciate this dates back to August 29 but I can promise we are actively investigating this and will keep you posted.

MemberAs a temporary workaround for this issue, those who are feeling bold could swap out the contents of this file:
wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/resources/events-admin.js
With the code contained here: http://pastebin.com/YYBviMea
This does not solve the basic problem but it should allow you to save changes to events which have become “detached” from the chain of recurring events instead of seeing the spinning loader icon as currently happens.
Back-up the existing file first of all and restore it if you have any problems – this is really an emergency measure and the best course of action is to wait for a definitive fix by the dev team.

MemberDavid, Webotools, Jeremy and anyone else experiencing this: have any of you experienced this same problem in a situation where the Hide from Upcoming Events List feature was not used? If so it would be great to hear about the circumstances so we can build a more complete picture of this.
After chatting to my colleagues though what I would have to recommend is that use of that feature (Hide from Upcoming Events List) be avoided as it is clearly one cause of this undesirable behaviour.

ParticipantHi Barry, I personally have only had the issue when using the ‘Hide from upcoming Events’, that does seem to be the main problematic feature.
Thanks.

MemberThanks David – so again for the time being I would recommend not using this feature, certainly until our developers can get a handle on whatever is causing the problem.
I do appreciate you taking the time to reply – it really does help us.

ParticipantThis just happened to me. I had created a recurring event, noticed the venue was incorrect, and for some reason I picked the second instance of the event to edit, and it updated immediately. I went to edit the first instance (there were only the two occurrences), changed the venue, and it hung on update. Spun for minutes before I trashed both events, re-entered, and it was fine.

MemberHi S., I’m glad it worked out okay. Sorry for the inconvenience!

ParticipantBarry hi,
Yes, I did experience this without checking the “Hide from Upcoming Events List feature”. I created a recurring event and saved it. Then I edited the second recurring event in line and simply changed its title and selected to apply the change to all upcoming events. Then I went to edit the first recurring event in line and change its title and the bug appeared with the loader spinning infinitely. I don’t think it matters if the Hide from Upcoming Events List is used. I think it all comes down to the fact that the first event is broken from the recurring group if you make any kind of change to the second in line event. Thus, if you then try to edit and save it, the popup (asking if you want to apply change to all events or just that one) doesn’t appear and the loader spins forever…October 19, 2012 at 9:20 am #26863Steven
ParticipantSo I was having the same issue here. I deactivated all of my plugins and the issue vanished. After reactivating them one-by-one I was still able to save changes to my reoccurring event.
The strangest thing was happening though and I will create another ticket for this -> When I went back to my reoccurring event – beginning today (October 19) it changed the start date to December 29th EVERY SINGLE TIME I updated the event. This is just on the admin side.
