ParticipantI’m having trouble on 2 sites we are using the plugin on. For some reason, on certain recurring events – if I go back into one of them to make a change, then save – I hit the ‘update’ button and it just hangs & doesn’t save. (spinning icon just keeps spinning indefinately) It’s happened to a client a few times and on another site I’m working on I’m getting the same issue.
On one of the recurring events, it’s saying it is not a recurring event, even though it’s been set up to be recurring.
I’m happy to provide access for ftp etc – just let me know how I can get this to you.
Regards.

ParticipantHi David,
The first thing I would suggest would be to increase the amount of PHP memory on the server for your site. Have you tried this? Here’s a link to a few different ways to accomplish this: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/
I hope that helps but let me know if you need anything else.

ParticipantJonah, how much memory would you recommend? I’m experiencing the same problem. My server’s default memory limit is 90M.

ParticipantWe increased the PHP memory allocation and it made no difference. There are also no errors being logged.
I will get you access set up – pls let me know if you need anything specific and also how I can get the details to you. Thanks.

ParticipantI can’t edit any recurring event and save it.
I’ve had to change it to a non-recurring event, save it, edit it, save it again, then change it back to recurring and save it.

ParticipantI can manage to save recurring events sometimes, but it’s happening quite a bit now where it just hangs, and on 2 different sites on 2 completely different servers.

ParticipantWe are following a procedure similar to Jason’s, except we’re leaving the “duplicate” events as non-recurring until this problem is resolved.

Participant@Mike, 90mb should be plenty. It sounds like there’s something else going on… Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to see if this helps? Or, switching to the Twenty Eleven theme?
@David, please send access details to pro [at] tri [dot] be referencing this thread and examples of what to try out.
@Jason, can you confirm you’ve tried deactivating all other plugins and/or reverted to the Twenty Eleven theme? Thanks,

ParticipantJonah, like David, the problem is intermittent here. I can go several days without a failure, and then have it happen a few times in a row. The bottom line, it makes it very hard to test interactions with other plugins or the theme (I’m using Genesis, for what it’s worth).
The one consistent item: it ONLY happens on events that have recurrence defined.August 31, 2012 at 1:07 pm #24439David
ParticipantI’ve got the problem on 2 different themes. Access details on the way Jonah.

ParticipantHi everybody,
It appears there is a bug of sorts here and I’ve reported this to the team and we’ll be getting on it ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience. It appears the issue happens when one instance of a recurring event is updated and you choose to update only that event which splits up the recurrence pattern. Then, if you try to edit other instances of the recurring event, you see the loading spinner and nothing else happens.
I’ll report back here as soon as I know more. Thanks for your patience.
Cheers,

ParticipantAwesome, Jonah. Thanks for the update.
If you don’t mind, I’d like to hijack this thread for just a moment: if there was a simple way to COPY an event, it might be a simple solution for solving the more difficult problem of addressing recurring events that don’t recur on a standard schedule. At least for my client, their events recur a few times, at most. If they had an easy way to COPY or DUPLICATE an existing event, change the date / time, and then save it, it would go a long way to addressing the more difficult recurring-event problem. -
