ParticipantWhen creating a recurring event with the never end date option, future events are generated, a number that is set according to the settings options. Lets say I created a recurring event January 1 with no known end date at the time of creation, and I set it to create 3 months ahead.
Then my client decides to end this class; an end date becomes known.
A. These are my questions about recurring events:
1. For an already-created-recurring-event , what is the correct way to implement an end date? AND
2. Does adding an end date for an already-created-recurring-event delete already-generated future occurrences of that event? AND
3. What is the correct way to set up recurring events when no end date is known to avoid bloat?B. I also have a question about documentation from your site. (https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-recurring-events/)
THE EVENTS CAL writes:
“It is possible to create a recurring event with no end date for the event to stop recurring. (Please note that doing so will set the event to recur indefinitely. This will create an indefinitely growing number of events posts in the calendar. ”This does not make sense. How does NOT putting an end date ‘stop the event from recurring’ as well as ‘set the event to recur indefinitely? Aren’t those exact opposites? And aren’t the number of future events generated controlled in the settings tab?
Thank you!

KeymasterHi there,
Thanks for emailing support.
To implement an end date on a recurring event, just click edit all next to one of the recurring events. You can then change the details to end on a specific date. Doing so will remove all future events that go past this date. To avoid bloat, I suggest limited the creation of future events to 1 month and setting a 1 month time to remove events that have passed this time as well.
In regards to part B of your question. Indefinitely means the recurrence never ends, so it will continue to recurring based on the settings you have chosen.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. Thanks so much!
