Can I link my calendar to other Event Calendars?

A number of organizations in our community have had calendars that fed into each other. For example, chambers of commerce, the local theater, an online magazine, and the tourism office for our county.

One by one, organizations are opting out of this syndicated calendar that has connected us all and they’re moving to Events Calendar instead. We are wondering if there’s a way for our calendars to feed each other via Events Calendar.

I see that I can use Aggregator to import from Facebook, Meetup, Google Calendar, iCalendar, CSV, and ICS. But can I import from another Modern Tribe Event Calendar?

Hi Petra,

You absolutely can! You may use Event Aggregator to pull content from other sites using The Events Calendar into other sites using The Events Calendar.

In short, The Events Calendar has an iCalendar feed built right into it that Event Aggregator can read to fetch those events on an automated basis.

I will say, however, that it is not a perfect solution for keeping all your event data in sync between sites. For example, it will not pull in your venues and organizers, but it will import the event itself.

One other thing I should note about Event Aggregator is that it is a service and is already built into The Events Calendar. In other words, there’s not need to install anything new. Simple purchase the license, enter the license key on the Events > Settings > Licenses screen, and that will unlock the importing features under Events > Import.

Hi Petra,

You know what, scratch that. I was trying to say that The Events Calendar includes a feature that allows you to create organizers and venues that can be associated with multiple events and that Event Aggregator will not create those for you when importing and event, but that is incorrect. It does indeed import all of that data and creates the organizers and venues for you in the process. So sorry for the confusion!

So, bottom line, having Event Aggregator on each site will import events from the others nicely. 🙂
