ParticipantHi, great plugin – but since updating the plugin, the calendar widget in our sidebar is not displaying events.
It lists events underneath the actual calendar which is fine, but it has stopped actually showing events on the calendar. Please could you advise on a fix?
Wordpress: 3.6

The Events Calendar Community Events 3.0.1

MemberHi Skatch,
It looks like it is functioning on your homepage and also on one or two other pages I looked at – could you provide a specific URL where I could see the problem / let me know if I am misunderstanding?
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Barry,
Many apologies, you misunderstand, let me explain in more detail:
The actual gridview of the sidebar calendar widget is not working. Previously, you could click on the dates in the grid and it would display a list of events underneath. Now it doesn’t. You can’t click on any of the specific dates on the calendar widget grid. You can see the problem on any page of http://www.musicreview.co.za. Please could you advise?

MemberI do apologize – my fault, I can see that now.
I can’t help but wonder if there is a conflict of sorts going on here, perhaps due to other code not tidying up after a query. Can you try our regular troubleshooting steps:
* Deactivate all other plugins except for those by Modern Tribe
* Switch to a default, unmodified theme such as Twenty Twelve
* Test with that widget in place
* If the problem is solved, reactivate everything else one-at-a-time
* Test at each stage to see if the problem has returnedThis could help to isolate the conflicting component, if there is one, and we can then focus on that. If it’s not possible to do these steps in the live environment it would be awesome if you could instead set up a duplicate site locally or in a comparable but separate hosting environment and run through the troubleshooting process there.
Thanks!

ParticipantI have the same issue – the new version of the plugin breaks the sidebar mini calendar widget. I’ve tried it just with Tri.be plugins running and a default theme (Twenty Thirteen) but to no avail – events are not clickable.
Any solutions would be appreciated.

MemberHi Stefhan, although that sounds similar to what Skatch has reported please create your own thread as the solution/troubleshooting process will not necessarily be the same in your case – plus you could then share your URL – thanks 🙂

ParticipantThanks for the quick reply Barry. I think I’ve made some progress:
With the old version of the plugin, the mini calendar was clickable so that when you clicked/hovered over a day you would see details of events in a pop-up. This was great as it meant the mini calendar didn’t take up much space on the page.It would seem to be that the new version doesn’t have this functionality – events appear underneath the calendar itself when you click on dates. My question is (and Skatch’s seems related) is it possible to use the new version but retain the pop-up event details on the mini calendar. And if so, how?
Thanks

MemberHi Stefhan: I don’t think that is quite the same and would again ask that you create a thread of your own. I appreciate it’s tempting to post in a related open thread but it also risks causing confusion and making it more difficult to help the original poster. In short, though, no: pop-up tooltips aren’t facilitated by the current incarnation of the calendar widget.

ParticipantHang on – I’m having the exact same problem and I just shelled out $50 so that I could have a Calendar widget – what’s the point if i cant easily see on teh widget calendar the days that events happen on? All I see is a static calendar and a list of upcoming events underneath it. Any decent calendar allows you to see and click on days on the grid to see what events are happening on that day. Are you telling me this is not an option?

ParticipantI traced the Plugin causing the issue: “NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati”. So does this mean I have to axe my Phot Gallery plugin simply to have a working Calendar widget?
August 30, 2013 at 4:10 pm #63919kevvygp
ParticipantTurns out that plugin also kills your search functionality and mapping. There is a bad conflict with your plugin and the NextGEN Gallery. I hoep other gallery plugins don’t have the same problem – I’m off to hunt for a different one, fortunately gallery functionality isnt a major issue for my site
August 30, 2013 at 4:59 pm #63920Barry
MemberWe’re aware that NextGEN and our own plugin do not currently mesh well (nor do I believe our plugin is alone in experiencing conflicts with NextGEN as of their recent 2.0 release). At this time there isn’t too much we can do about this.
So, if you’re happy to move away from NextGEN and that solves your problem that’s great. If you do need further help on this or any other issue, though, please do create new threads rather than jumping into ones created by other people – doing so not only helps us to help you in the quickest possible fashion but also enables us to focus on helping the original poster with minimal confusion.
Thanks!
@skatch: how are you getting on here? Were you able to run through the previously outlined troubleshooting steps?August 31, 2013 at 1:46 am #63932skatch
Participant@Barry
I was just about to sit down and beginning troubleshooting. Big thanks for your help and thanks to @kevvygp – It was the NextGEN plugin. Fortunately, our site barely uses the NextGEN plugin, so I’ve disabled it and will look for a new gallery plugin. All working, thanks.

MemberExcellent – glad you’re able to move forward on this one 🙂
Since it sounds like everyone’s good here I’ll close this thread – of course please don’t hesitate to create new threads of your own if anything else crops up.
Thanks!
