GuestHello!
I create premium themes which sell on Themeforest and was wondering what kind of license your Calendar Pro plugin would require. The plugin itself would be shipped as a package along with a dozen others and the theme itself. The practice of shipping a theme with plugins is pretty standard over there and the customer never receives any kind of update or authentication key. Each theme we create requires an additional license purchase and are used strictly as a one off ordeal. This is the relationship that every plugin/theme has on Themeforest, including Visual Composer which has grossed millions in sales at this point.
Do you have a license specific to this use? I see an unlimited site license but its far out of the price range for single use premium themes. And not exactly contextually accurate. Especially considering that an author has to repurchase the license for every theme they create. Meaning we devour them. Which is why the price for an extended license(for theme use) for say Visual Composer is $150. Because Themeforest understands its not feasible for authors to continue purchasing them at say $750 a pop.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing more about your pricing options. Cheers

MemberGood morning Robert,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for explaining very clearly what you would be interested in pursuing.
You are indeed making a very interesting proposition which I will have to run by our Products team before I am able to give you a precise answer. In fact, I will probably loop-in someone from that team in this conversation.
I should be able to give you an update later today.
Thank you for your patience.
Have an awesome day!

GuestHi Geoff,
Thank you for the prompt response! Most successful plugins outside of Themeforest(technically codecanyon) typically seem to cater to personal and corporate use cases. As where the plugins on Themeforest are largely consumed by theme developers. For instance the Visual Composer plugin is bundled, and inherently made a dependency in nearly every theme for sale on the marketplace. It’s certainly a different audience but I believe the scale warrants investigation. That being said I’m glad to hear you will be looking into it and discussing it further with your colleagues.
Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding market procedures or customer expectations. My insight and experience may be able to shed some light on the matter. Cheers guys.

MemberGood afternoon Robert,
Thank you for your understanding and overall wonderful spirit about all of this.
I did discuss this offer with our Product Manager and after careful deliberation here is his recommendation:
“Sure! He should totally feel free to package The Events Calendar core plugin with his themes. We’ve released this as a free product and we’re glad he is excited to promote it! If users need support from us or additional features, they can purchase our Premium plugins directly.”
In other words, what that means is that the key selling feature of our Pro version is the support we provide for it.
And the users love it.This probably gives you a bit more of an insider’s perspective on our licenses pricing structure.
Simply put, we try to offer the best support possible at the lowest price possible. This means that having a different type of licensing agreement for the Pro plugin (and providing the support for it is unfortunately not possible at this time). I know this is not exactly what you were looking for.
But I want to reiterate we truly appreciate your offer and desire to include in your themes.
We are always open to new ideas an suggestions.Let me know what your thoughts are on this alternative proposition ?
Have a great weekend,
Geoff B.
