Guest
Hi,

I’ve been using Time.ly’s calendar for a year now on a MultiSite install (100+ sites) for our school district. So far, it’s been a somewhat pleasant experience and easy to manage, with the exception that it’s a heavy load on the server and causes the websites to really slow down. So now I’m back on the market looking for something to potentially replace it. There are a few features specifically that time.ly has that are crucial to our needs. I’m unsure if your product has these features.

1) Calendar feeds. We need to be able to pull the feeds from each of the calendars on the sub-sites into a master calendar. In other words, does your calendar actually create a feed for export? This is also something that our patrons use regularly to subscribe in their own calendars to the school events.

2) We also need to be able to import a feed from iCal, Outlook, and Google Calendars. (From what I can tell, your product doesn’t support feeds and the import/export only creates a snapshot of the calendar at the time.)

3) We need something that will work on two separate MultiSite installs. I’m not sure your product would be an option if we have to buy licenses for every site.

4) A common request we’ve gotten is to have a “Go to Today” or simply a “Today” button or link somewhere. I noticed that you had a filter bar on the demo but there’s no simple way to view the current day when you’re looking at a sea of events on the month view.

Other than those questions, from what I can tell you guys have a far superior product, and I hope to be able to use it.

Thanks!

ParticipantHi Chris,
I don’t think we’re the plugin you are looking for. Events are specific to each calendar and cannot be pulled into a master calendar at the present time. And as you suspected, the calendars import/export and do not acutely sync back and forth. We do work on multisite, but the plugin is intended to be licensed per site. There is a way around this, but it does require additional work as the auto-update feature is not available on every site then. And lastly, we do not have a “Go to today” button, but what a great idea? Would you be willing to add it to our UserVoice page for consideration for a future release? I’m sorry to disappoint, but I want to give you an honest picture of the plugin’s functionality. If we can help you in any other way, please let us know.
