I just paid for the full version of this plugin and am somewhat disappointed by what appears to be a showstopper of a bug.
When you first navigate to this page and try selecting another month or year you’ll get a 404 because it prepends the requested date with undefined. If you click to browse either the previous or next months first however and THEN select a new month or year from the dropdowns, it works fine. I also noticed that the dropdowns become much smaller and change their style after browsing left or right so it appears that having /events/XXXX-XX in the URL seems to set some kind of global variable that is not set by /events/ alone.

I had included the site’s link in the relevant field but see that it’s not visible in the post. For anyone who might be able to help the link is http://www.harrisonandcompany.co.uk/events. Thanks.

Hi Gareth, I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties.

(Also, just for future ref, the URL you provided originally is visible to those of us on the support team – I appreciate that may not be very obvious to you though!)

Unfortunately I can’t see the problem when I visit your site – I guess because you have temporarily removed the dropdown selector?

Hi Barry and thanks for the speedy reply.

I realised that the admins might be able to see it, but thought that if anyone else on here wanted to help then they’d probably benefit from being able to see the page too, so I came back. 🙂

After posting the above messages though I tried a few other things and think I narrowed it down to something in the theme that was conflicting. Judging by the theme’s support page the author isn’t the best for providing assistance so rather than rely on him fixing it any time soon I edited the page to remove the drop-downs instead. This isn’t the kind of calendar that people are going to want to jump around at will so it’s not too much of a loss to only be able to skip left and right. It works fine otherwise.

    Anyway, thanks again.

Yep good point! It’s always worth seeing if others in the community can help – you never know if someone has already solved the problem or not.

So if you’re happy with your fix then that’s great – but please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us again if you want help resolving this. May I ask what theme you are using (if you prefer not to say that’s fine)?

    Thanks – much appreciated.

The theme is called Website and is from a guy called Kuba Sto. You can find it here: http://themes.kubasto.com/website.

If you look at the support requests you’ll see that most of his responses involve fobbing people off or telling them their requests are beyond free support. So much for customer service.

I haven’t asked him for help with this as I decided based on the above responses that it would be much easier simply to disable the drop-downs.

    Thanks

OK – so since it’s a premium theme I can’t easily look at how it’s structured, but again if you were happy to send a zipped copy across (to [email protected]) I could take a quick look at how it integrates with The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO

… I can’t guarantee a fix – especially if it works with Twenty Eleven or other standard themes, but I’d certainly be happy to scope it out. If you do send it across, please put “FAO Barry” in the subject field of the email.

    Thanks 🙂

Thanks Barry – I’m very impressed with your willingness to help me here.

I’ve sent the files, so good luck!

OK, well what I can tell you is that it the events calendar – dropdown selector and all – works for me if I run the theme you sent “out of the box” as it were.

What I can’t really say is whether that would be true if I had exactly the same configuration as you (it looks like it is an extensively customizable theme, even providing a choice of different sliders from different vendors by the looks of things) … and of course it’s not likely that I am running the same combination of plugins, nor is my environment going to be exactly the same.

Right now though it looks as if it should work – is it possible this results from custom Javascript or something else that you might happen to have configured via the theme’s setup options?

    Hi Barry

That’s really interesting. It must be a combination of the theme and another plugin then… though which exactly, I have no idea. I guess I have some time playing mix-n-match ahead of me.

Thanks for the support – very much appreciated.

No problem at all. It can be time consuming but breaking taking the site back to a basic state and re-enabling elements one-by-one is often the surest way to do it. I wish you luck!

    * Typo! Ought to have been just “taking” the site back … not breaking!
