    Our multisite network went down again this morning, again due to Events Calendar PRO and the sheer volume of geolocation queries that seem to get generated by the processes.

    How can we eliminate the Google geolocation queries that are crippling our network? The alternative is to eliminate Events Calendar PRO, and the time has come for us to make a decision on where our efforts are best spent— getting this plugin that we have been using for years to function without taking down our website on a routine basis, or getting a new solution for events that we can promote across the multisite network.

    Hello again Mike,

    I’m sorry that the issue still has an impact on you.

    I see that you are still using an older version of PRO. We are currently at version 4.4.24.2 and since 4.4.21 we have made improvements in the code and queries to make the geolocation queries more performant / less resource intensive. So far the responses from our users have been positive.

    I would kindly like to ask you to check how the new versions of the plugins perform on your multi-site.

    I’m sure you are playing it safe, nonetheless, let me suggest that you try them out on a staging site first, or at least create a full backup of your site, files and database including.

    If the update doesn’t solve it, then I’ll try to get another solution for you to somehow eliminate the queries in question.

    We will update our PRO plugin on staging today, and plan to update production on Sunday.
