Calendar Month View Stops Displaying Next Month Option if No Event is Listed

I noticed that in the month view of the calendar the calendar stops showing the “next month” button link if there are no events entered for that next month or beyond. For example, on our site we have events listed through October and nothing beyond that and when viewing the calendar in month view on our site we have no option to click through to months after October…is there a way to enable viewing future months even if we don’t have events posted for those months?
