GuestI’m trying to decide if I need to purchase Events Calendar Pro. At the moment, I am using the free version. I’m working with a client to design/develop a custom wordpress site. The client has requested to have a calendar on the home page, as well as the calendar on the /events page.
First of all, is it possible to accomplish this with the free version? I’ve had zero luck finding a template tag in the docs that will display the calendar view on a custom template. Or, does this require the purchase of the PRO plugin? I’m seeing references to a “mini calendar” with PRO, which may be what we are looking for… I just need some solid answers before I purchase the plugin.
Also, is it possible to have a dropdown/select to filter events by location? Or is this another feature that would require PRO?
Please let me know. I appreciate any help I can get at this point! Thanks in advance!

MemberHi Kendra,
Great questions!
We are actually in the process of building a feature that would allow you to embed full calendar views on any page or post using a shortcode and that should come out in Events Calendar PRO version 4.3 if all goes according to plan.
In the meantime, I’m afraid there is no easy way to embed full calendar views so that the calendar is both on the homepage and the main calendar page. Events Calendar PRO does indeed include several shortcodes that allow you to embed the calendar widgets (i.e. the mini calendar) on any page or post, so that may very well get you what you need for now, but I at least wanted to throw that out there.
And, yes, we actually have another plugin called Filter Bar that will add search filters to the calendar, including a filter to search events by distance.
Does this help answer your questions? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

GuestPerfect! That helps me a lot. I believe the mini calendar will work exactly how the client is wanting it to, so it looks like the PRO version will be the best option. I was not aware that you had that filtering plugin, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction there, as well.
Thanks for the help!
