ParticipantI have two questions
1. – How do I change the height of the calendar?
2. – On the Map Page why are the upcoming events in the wrong order? They should lead with the EARLIEST event followed by later events:
See: http://www.maritimelogisticsandenergy.com/events/map/
Should be like this page surely?? : http://www.maritimelogisticsandenergy.com/events/ is correctJanuary 15, 2014 at 1:39 pm #93176Barry
MemberHi philmacaulay,
In terms of reducing the height of the calendar, can you confirm that you mean month view itself, or are you referring to a different view/one of the widgets? Also, what is it you’re trying to achieve – do you want empty rows to collapse down more or something like that?
On the Map Page why are the upcoming events in the wrong order? They should lead with the EARLIEST event followed by later events:
See: http://www.maritimelogisticsandenergy.com/events/map/I’m not quite sure what the problem is here – we do try to stick to a policy of one issue per thread as it can get confusing quite quickly if we are fielding questions in a single thread on two or more unrelated issues. Could you re-post this question in a new thread and also describe what it is you are expecting to see (I’m not sure I see the problem – the earliest event in that view is June 9 and the latest June 13, they appear to be in the correct order to me)?
Thanks!

ParticipantOK
Sorry I just thought first question would be a straight forward one.
You can ignore the other question which I have fixed. I was using posttype order plugin which I hadn’t set up.
So….On height I mean the WEEK Calendar view
Calendar page: http://www.maritimelogisticsandenergy.com/events/week/2014-06-09/
So I want the Week calendar to be say 700px High, but it appears to be fixed at 500px. ie css shows : element.style {height:500px;}. I don’t see an option to change this?
Thanks

MemberOh I see – well we actually specify the height by passing a map of properties across to the slimScroll library, so this is set via Javascript rather than a stylesheet. If you can bear with me though I’ll get an answer as to how this change might be made (or even if it’s readily practical) from someone with more knowledge of this part of the system than I 🙂
Thanks for your patience!

MemberThanks for your patience.
So this is possible and our resident JS expert put together this snippet demonstrating the general approach (in this example, it sets the height to 700px) – please note this would need to be enqueued after our own plugin’s Javascript files.
I hope that helps!

ParticipantThank you Barry
I appreciate you getting back to me.Although I have to say, I have abandoned using the Week view altogether – I just don’t think it has been thought through properly and when you have a few events going on in a week and they overlap on certain days it’s just plain ugly.
Personally my view would be that time should be on the X-axis and Days on the Y. this would be much a more desirable and natural way to navigate. It would allow a single line or two lines of text in a bar for the event running horizontally – multiple events on a single day could be stacked easily without overlapping and visually it would be much more elegant. Hey, I probably wouldn’t need to consider making the calendar deeper either. I wonder why your Week Grid View structure ended up the way it did.
I have to say that adding JS snippets and enqueuing just to make the calendar height a couple of hundred pixels deeper/higher is rather clumsy.
Another question for you Barry, I know I should do another discussion, but I’ve already asked about it:
There are quite a few requests for being able to add names/details to tickets/attendees and there has been talk of including it in a future release. As I am about to get a developer to help me with this – Do you have any information on when and/or if this is going to be included soon??But like I said, I do appreciate you getting back to me.

MemberI’m sorry to hear you had to abandon it but feedback like you have provided is invaluable and very much appreciated – I’d like to thank you for taking the time to detail it.
I can see your point re swapping the axes and it would certainly have a number of practical benefits; similarly I’d agree it’s not a view that is as readily customizable as perhaps might be ideal. That to say, I’ll certainly feedback your comments on that topic and once again I’m sorry that it didn’t meet your needs.

There’s no doubt that’s a popular request, but I’m afraid I can’t suggest a timeline. We have this on our tracker but further work is yet to be scheduled and though I can’t really offer any guarantees I think it would be unlikely to see it within the next couple of releases (though it’s possible).
I hope that answers your questions – and I’ll go ahead and close this thread. If there’s anything else we can help with please don’t hesitate to create a new thread or threads as needed.

MemberUnfortunately we weren’t able to squeeze this one into our 3.5 release but I wanted to drop a note in here to let you know it’s still on our radar and we will try hard to fit it in to the next release instead. Thanks for your support and patience in the meantime!
